  • President ED Mnangagwa officially launched the Electronic Passport (e-passport) at the Civil Registry Department, Chiwashira Building in Harare.
The introduction of the e-passport resonates with global best practices and is part of Government’s efforts to enhance immigration security.
The e-passport application services will be decentralized to all Provinces, while Embassies are also being engaged to ensure that people in the diaspora have access.
Advantages of using e-passport include;
-protects the privacy of citizens against identity theft and counterfeiting of travel documents;
-provides enhanced security standards at the country’s various Ports of Entry and Exit;
-traveler-friendly and fast controls at the border

The Department’s services are provided at Central Registry, all the 10 Provincial Registry Offices, 63 District Registry Offices, 206 sub-offices and foreign missions
