It is both an honour and a solemn responsibility to provide insight into the work, vision, and values that guide our Ministry.
The Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs exists to ensure that the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives, comfort, and futures in pursuit of national independence are duly recognised, respected, and supported. Our mandate is rooted in the imperative to serve these heroes and heroines with dignity, fairness, and unwavering commitment. This Ministry stands as a custodian of their legacy and a champion of their rights and welfare.
Our core responsibilities include the identification, documentation, registration, and verification of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, repatriation, exhumation and reburial of fallen Heroes and Heroines. The Ministry is also mandated with the provision of social and economic support services, the facilitation of access to health care and housing, and the implementation of empowerment programmes aimed at improving the quality of life for Veterans, their dependents as well as Heroes Dependants and War Victims. In addition, we coordinate national memorialisation efforts to ensure that the history of the liberation struggle is preserved and passed on to future generations with accuracy and reverence.
This website serves not just as an information hub but as a bridge between the Ministry and the people we serve. It provides an accessible platform for the Veterans Community, and the public to interact with our services, gain timely updates on initiatives, and offer feedback that is crucial to continuous improvement. The digital transformation of our services represents a significant stride toward efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness.
Internally, the Ministry is structured around a results-driven and people-centred approach. Our dedicated staff across all departments work tirelessly to ensure that Veterans and stakeholders receive the support they deserve. We are committed to upholding professional standards, accountability, and ethical conduct in every aspect of our operations. Strategic partnerships with other Ministries, local authorities, non-governmental organisations, and the private sector are also vital in helping us achieve our objectives.
As we engage on this platform, we reaffirm our resolve to transform service delivery and ensure that no Veteran is left behind. We understand the depth of our responsibility, not only to provide for the material needs of Veterans but also to preserve their legacy and ensure that their sacrifices are not only remembered but honoured in practical, meaningful ways.
In closing, I invite all users of this platform to engage constructively with the Ministry. Let us work together to ensure that the vision of a nation that honours its liberators is fully realised. The success of this Ministry depends on collective effort, shared respect, and a deep commitment to the principles for which so many fought and died.
Thank you for visiting and for supporting this vital national mission.
Mr A. T Chikondo
Secretary for Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs
