Our mandate is rooted in the imperative to serve these heroes and heroines with dignity, fairness, and unwavering commitment. Introduction

Who we are

The Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs was established in 1997 as a Department under the Office of the President and Cabinet to cater for the Welfare of War Veterans. It took over responsibilities of welfare services for War Veterans from the Ministry of Social Welfare. Over the years the Ministry went through various organisational changes which were aimed at improving service delivery for Veterans of the liberation Struggle. The Ministry was re established on 11 September 2023. Our mandate as per constitutional and legal provisions focuses on administering statutory entitlements to the following categories:

Vision

A versatile service provider to Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, Heroes, War Victims and their eligible Dependants and a hub of Liberation War history.

Mission

To empower the Veterans community, Heroes and War Victims, accurately document, safeguard and preserve the nation’s Liberation War history and legacy
